To Vietnam: Hoi An to Huế

By now, we were getting the hang of the country by a tiny bit, the people felt more approachable, and the beer felt much more palatable. Our next destination was the imperial city of Huế. All about the city and its sights, that ll come in the next post, but this time, let me tell you about the journey.

From Hoi An, there are two budget and recommended ways to get to Huế, take the bus or the train. You can always hire a motorbike, join a bike tour or hire a private car for the journey. This website, I Love Hue Tour is a good source of the information and one can never plan a trip without active use of Seat61. We took the comfortable way out, and booked ourselves a coupe in the soft sleeper in the SE2 train, which runs from HCMC to Ha Noi. The coach was air conditioned, and quite comfortable. Not the Indian trains’ first class type comfortable, but good enough; a bit cramped though. For a travel time of about 3 hours, we had each paid 1600 INR. We may have had a thought to grumble about the cost, but it was laid to rest within the first 15 minutes of the journey.

The entire route of the journey is through the hills, which hug the coastline. The view was amazing. The train chugs along slowly enough to take photos all the way. The aisle is generally filled with tourists and locals alike, taking in the sights and clicking away happily. I was no exception to this 🙂

The views continued to keep us mesmerized, spaced with dark spells through the numerous tunnels.

Soon we had reached plain land, and it felt very much similar to train journeys back home. Rolling fields with paddy, men and women working, etc.

And then, all of a sudden, we were in Huế. So, we picked our bags, and hopped off!

All about Huế, coming up shortly in the next post.

Cheers!!

Awestruck!

Sometimes we come across natural beauties, so amazing, that we need some time, a little more than a moment to take it all in and enjoy the view. How one chooses to enjoy the moment varies, some would love to share it with friends, some would like a little solitude.

Two worlds, wrapped into one, here goes!

Glimpses of Mumbai – 200 m above earth – 1

Hi there readers,

It has been quite sometime since my last post. Have been keeping busy due to the internship.
There’s an advantage while you are interning on a realty project. Now a days, most of the projects are high rise ones,  so is mine. The following shots have been taken in a Mumbai suburb, from about 200m above the earth.  I hope you like the view.

Glimpses of Mumbai: Bandra – Worli Sealink

So, my quest of shooting the icons of Mumbai continues in this post too. In the earlier posts, the Tulsi Pipe road, Haji Ali Dargah, Chor Bazaar and the Queen’s Necklace have been covered. This time, it is the ₹1600 crore worth engineering marvel, the Bandra- Worli Sealink. The shots have been shot from the Bandra Fort, in company of Dipanwita, and the other shots are from the Dadar beach, in company of Tanisha, both amazing photographers in their own rights.
I was asked recently by a friend, what I do in my spare time?Well, I post process my photos! 🙂

TTL: Shankarpur I

Its not everyday that we travel to the hills of the North East India and to the beaches of Bay of Bengal within a span of 15 days, but then, when the opportunity came knocking, I wasnt going to turn it down.

So here I was, at Shankarpur. It is still a relatively peaceful and calm beach on the east coast of India, facing the Bay of Bengal. It is situated about 20 kms away from Digha, but is immensely more calm, and also cheaper. Nearby are a couple of virgin beaches, Tajpur and Mandarmoni. Ideal destinations for couples, friends, families, who crave some quite time listening to the waves crashing and watch the moon rise and take early morning strolls.
Well, enough with the descriptions, have a look here 🙂

TTL: Goa & Andaman Islands I

I was sorting through my old photos, and came across some usable ones. These are 2 to 4 year old photos, but the minute I see them, I can still feel the ocean breeze, the sun, the beach, I can feel the whole holiday come back to me.

Hence, another set of TTL series, right here! This time, its a combination of shots from Goa and Andaman Islands.
