PetFed2017 Mumbai – Part 2

Day 1 at PetFed 2017 was amazing, while day 2 had more of pups and humans coming in for the shows and games. On the second day, I barely took some photos for I was too busy cuddling furballs all over the field. Here are a few:

A fluffy Chow Chow

A white retriever and a husky

There was a dog obedience demonstration and the dogs featured were non other than Begian Malinois. Since watching Person of Interest, I always wanted to get close to a Malinois. Such innocent face they have, cuties, while one must always remember that there are fewer more loyal or ferocious.

A Belgian Molinois

Then there was a Poodle. A super pretty and quite a tiny one.

Then, there was this puppy and this rabbit, the only rabbit in the entire PetFed 2017.

And finally, there was Simran with a cat.

To end, I will say that it was a wonderful weekend of playing and cuddling with so many dogs and cats. Had an amazing time working with fellow photographers and other volunteers and I look forward to meeting even more pets the next PetFed!!

Cheers!!

PetFed2017 Mumbai – Part 1

For the pet lovers out there, the owners and the pets themselves, one of the best and amazing events that took place in Mumbai last year was the PetFed2017.
There were dogs of varied breeds from tiny Chihuahuas to big fluffy Chow Chows, Alsatians, Labradors, Golden Retrievers. The most common members were from the Pug and Shih Tzu categories out there, the trend owing to the limited spaces found in Mumbai. There were a couple of Spaniels and Huskies too in the crowd. Few cats had shown up and they had separate swag of their own. There was also one rabbit in the huge list of attendees.

Lets have a look at some glimpses of the event.

On the first day, during the day time, the pets got exhausted quickly with all the running and frolicking around in the high sun. On day two, things changed quite a bit. What I learnt was that there are a lot of dogs and breeds of whom I had no idea at all existed or were family members right here in India. It was quite amazing to be able to hug and cuddle them 🙂

Part 2 shall be up real soon.

AtoZ Challenge: W – Watermark

Watermark

How important is a watermark? In my opinion, very! Times are such that it is important to take credit for your job, to ensure that no one else cashes in on it. A watermark is the simplest way to attempt this. You let a sign, a name, a phrase, that identifies uniquely to you be in the photo and proclaim that copying it unauthorized is a copyright violation. If, someday, someone steals your photos and you want to pursue them, having an inconspicuous watermark tucked in is useful.

Sometimes though, this philosophy is taken to the extreme and the watermark is made in a way that it is not worth taking the pains to edit it out, serves the purpose though.

Tell me about your thoughts on watermarking of photos.

Last time, W was for White Balance.

Cheers!!

Rare Elements of the Fauna

Albinism, is considered to be a rare phenomena, be it in human beings, or animals. Here we have, one albino tiger, and a white cat. Rare, because you don’t see a lot of them naturally occurring 🙂

Glimpses of Mumbai: Dhobi Ghaat

For the ones who have followed my Glimpses of Mumbai set, and thought that it was over and done with, well, not quite. I have been bogged down with post internship formalities and college classes, hence these never made it out of Lightroom, until now. Here is, a glimpse of the world’s largest open air laundry.

Located right off the Mahalaxmi station on the central line is this location. Interestingly, if one would want to have a look at the various strata of the society, the serving and the served, that is also visible right from the flyover.

On the way from Dadar to Mahalaxmi, one can find this certain location too, seems perfect for a eerie shoot!

This too shall not be last post of the series, there should be at least one more to it. Do keep an eye out.
