The other side of her

Sometimes, we come across wonderful people who have the amazing ability to exhibit at least two completely contrasting personalities, depending on the location and surroundings.
Today, I share some shots of an extremely talented and very beautiful person who I feel happy to call my friend. She is the creative head of our current student council. Amazing person to be with and an excellent artist.
Parthivi, can be found running about the college on various creative assignments often and she always has a very serious “I mean business” look on her face. She knows how to get things done. So, when the photoshoot came up, honestly, a tiny bit of doubt existed in me as to how comfortable she ll be and how the shoot shall progress.
It took her few minutes at max to put all of my doubts to rest. Underneath that steely exterior of her, there is a very happy and bubbling with energy kind of a person and I was very happy to be able to capture that.
Here are some of the shots of this really amazing person.

The real and the copy

Eyes, are one of the most amazing of the many god gifted instruments to the mortals. And since we human beings are the curious and innovative kind, its just too much for us to not try making our own mechanical copies of it.

The copy may not ever be better than the real one, but it sure as hell comes close to it 🙂

First line of defence

In the era of 5” plus sizes of screen of smartphones, having a screen guard is very common. Putting a tempered glass cover is also catching up steadily.

In the group of people, who use tempered glass, there are two kinds…
One, who throw the cover away when it breaks. Other, who do this….

Everything, when viewed under correct light, appears beautiful, even a shattered glass sheet.

Chasing the sun

There are some people out there who manage to greet the sun often, not me though. I wake up by the first rays of the sun, not before it though. So, when the plan to go greet the sun came up, it was too good to be passed over.

Before I tell you where I went to catch the sunrise, let me share some photos.

I can put a safe bet that a lot of you think that these have been shot at a hill station. Instead, the location is about 30 kms away from Pune. These shots are from the Singhagadh fort.
Located at the hill top at an altitude of about 1400mts above sea level, this served as a fort for the Maratha rulers. Now its a popular spot for weekend trips. Light treks and amazing natural beauty. Have a look at the rest.

Next up, some of the best portrait photos I have shot till date. Stay tuned. They ll be up shortly 🙂

5 Points to a prettier you

Often, in the portrait shots, I have come across amazing ladies. Some know what makes them look good, which side of face suits them, what pose suits them and so on, while, some need to be directed.
From the experience I have had so far, I can formulate the below mentioned points, which, by me, if known by either the photographer, or the model, would help make amazing portraits.

  1. Turn to a side: Turn to a side while you are being shot. Pose in front of the mirror at your leisure. Find out which side you like, so the next time the photog asks you to pose, turn a bit, show off that amazing side profile, and voila, you have a nice photo. Also, apart from looking awesome, people generally appear slimmer on the side profile shots 😉

    DSC_0660-9

  2. Look Back: Turn and look back. Imagine that you have been called from behind as you are walking away, turn back, and give that thousand watt smile. Trust me, that makes an amazing shot.

    DSC_4403

  3. Let the shoulders play: Uneven shoulders, they work. They let the eyes follow the shoulder line and reach the most happy part of you, your face. Try it out. Droop to a side, tilt your head a bit, and look at the photos turn from fine to amazing.

    DSC_3844

  4. Hands off:  Please let your arms be away from your torso. Stretch them, rest them on your hip, play with them, or anything of your fancy. Why, you may ask, the arms look thinner when away from the torso 🙂

    DSC_3532

  5. Use a prop: Use a prop, whatever you may find handy. Get distracted a bit and let the photog shoot you. The shots come out natural, and the curiosity shows in the photos, which in turn make you look very beautiful.

With this, my list of things I wish my models know while I shoot them comes to an end. And since you have shown the patience of reaching till here, I ll leave with a parting tip.
What’s common in the following photos?

Am sure, you have guessed it, they are all smiling, happily and not faking it. So, think of a happy thought, and flash that charming smile of yours and let the photog capture it. You are beautiful, remember that.
So, the next time we meet, you, my dear reader, know just what to do, when I say, lets shoot 🙂

I ll take this space in thanking the amazing ladies who have graced my lens:

Awesomeness…three times over

I prefer putting up photos which are new, and have not been used before for my posts. But sometimes, such a topic of weekly challenge comes up, where I can find no other photo more apt than one that had been previously used in a different post too.
This week: Trio. Hope the photo cheers you up, as it does to me every single time.

The Road ahead…

Success and victory, are two terms, which are often used in very close combination, and often synonymous too. The path to victory, and the path to success, are riddled with rocky terrain

and uncertain path and risks and dead ends.

Yet, with encouraging views

and a proper means to conquer,

we cross the long, twisty road, and reach our destination.

DSC_4104-10

Here’s to success, here’s to victory.

The shots had been shot over the previous week on a trip with friends and family to a nearby holy shiva site, Bhimashankar. The road is breathtakingly beautiful and treacherously dangerous too. But, it was absolutely worth the risks.

Cheers!!

The Mega Event: BNLF 2015

It all started when a new tab opened up on the Indiblogger website, with a weird name, #BNLF. Curious, I checked it, turned out to be a blogging event to be held at Mumbai during Oct 31 and Nov 1. I liked the dates, as I would be available, so I joined in.
As days went by, the buzz began to pick up. Slowly and steadily, I found a lot of people whom I follow were attending this event, so the interest got stoked. Ultimately, on the event days, it was a mega hit. Approximately 500 bloggers from all over the country had come. Some of the major motivational speakers, keynote speakers, professional trainers, celebrities, all were there. What more, I was also the part of the Indicrew, which was basically a volunteer group which was formed with the bloggers to help in the smooth functioning of the event. With the camera with me, and in the company of a few more photographers, we covered the event and came up with some shots I can feel proud about.

Should you choose to accept and abide to the above conditions, proceed here. In case you have certain doubts, be a good citizen and turn back from this page.

It was one of the best experiences till date. To meet with so many like minded people and have an amazing interaction with them, a lot of networking, and making new friends too.

Furry Treat

I am an animal lover, with special attraction for four pawed young ones, commonly puppies and kittens…wouldn’t mind baby pandas and bears too for that matter, maybe baby otters also.
Anyway, after a hectic day of classes, I felt very elated to hear yelp like mewing coming from the nearby parking lot. Investigation, led me to this tiny fellow.

But, it didn’t seem very friendly.

The next day, found the same one, in a much agreeable mood.

Finding the time to play with kittens and puppies are a well deserved treat according to me, what did you treat yourself to?

Boots on Ground

It has many names, many forms, it is also the most widely played outdoor sport on this orb we call earth. Some follow it like religion, some swear by it, but no one, can ever ignore it. It is a religion, which has given us living gods. Gods who dribble, lob, pass and shoot. I dont know where you belong from, and what they call it out there, but here, on my side of the planet, we call it Football!!

Safe Hands

Shooting in the dark is a job that takes patience and care, just to get the focus right. That too in a manual lens. The ISO needs to be high enough to use a decent shutter speed, and a low enough to avoid excessive noise. When you manage to get things right, you get a shot like this.

Till the next post..

Cheers!!
